For trademark owners

To protect itrademark and other intellectual property rights owners a Sunrise period in .РФ was orginised. Below is provided the description of Sunrise period.

From 25 November, 2009 registrations in .РФ became available to Russian trademark owners.

From 12 May, 2010 any trademark owners got an ability to register domain name in TLD .РФ.

Finally, from 15 June, 2010 registrations in .РФ became available to:

  •  mass-media, officially registered in Russia;
  •  companies, officially registered in Russia, which names are not registered as trademarks;
  •  non-commercial organisations, officially registered in Russia;
  •  owners of names of goods’ and services’ origin.

All categories of registrants described above were able to apply for .РФ domain names on a priority basis till 16 September, 2010.

To get a Cyrillic domain name a registrant had to provide a set of necessary documents to one of the registrars, accredited in .РФ.

The list of documents:

  • Application to the registrar, selected for support of a domain.
  • Stamped copy of one of the following documents (depends on registrant category):
    • For the owners of names of goods’ and services’ origin: certificate on the name of goods’ and services’ origin
    • For non-commercial organisations and companies, officially registered in Russia but not trademark owners: record from Russian United State Registry of Legal Entities that was made no later than 20 days before the application on a domain name was received by a registrar.
    • For trademark owners:
      • trademark certificate, valid in Russian Federation;
      • official conclusion on trademark, done by Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks; application on trademark registration, certified by Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks (one of this documents is required in case a registrar can not unambiguously understand a word part of a trademark).
    • For mass-media:
      • copy of an official decision of mass media founders, confirming their collective will to register a domain name;
      • copy of an official decision of mass media founders, confirming that one of them has a right to administer a domain name.
  • Stamped copy of the document, confirming that an applicant is registered as a legal entity; Mass-media can provide a passport copy of an individual, in case a domain name will be administered by him.

In case the ending of a trademark includes .РФ or its transcript applicant may not use this ending in a domain name.
Owners of names of goods’ and services’ origin Domain name, identical with a name of goods’ and services’ origin.
Companies, which names are not registered as trademarks (a company should be officially registered in Russia) Domain name, consisted of a company’s name and full or abbreviated type of its property.
Non-commercial organisations, officially registered in Russia Domain name, identical with full or abbreviated name of a non-commercial organisation.
Mass-media, officially registered in Russia

Domain name, identical with full officially registered name of a mass-media.

In case the ending of a name of a mass-media includes .РФ or its transcript applicant may not use this ending in a domain name.

Upon registration all spaces, presented in the word part of trademarks, companies’ names, names of goods’ and services’ origin, names of non-commercial organizations and mass-media, had to be deleted or changed on hyphens. Each applicant were able to register two domain names: written without spaces and written with hyphens.

All domains on a priority basis were registered on first come, first served principles.

Trademark and other intellectual property rights owners didn't applied for domain names in Sunrise, will be able to register them on a common basis and first come, first served principles during general availability period in .РФ that starts on 11 November, 2010.

By the time any user can preoder a domain name in TLD .РФ. This domain will be registered after the start of general availability.
